Gail Sookey

I attended my first yoga class in 2009 when it was offered at my workplace in Pittsfield, MA. I was immediately hooked. I found that there were many benefits of a yoga practice including strength, flexibility, stress-relief,and an overall balancing of mind and body. The more yoga I did, the daily stress of today’s hectic living became more manageable. I also found that yoga helped me recover from various gym/sports injuries.

I feel strongly that yoga is truly for everyone. Many people feel intimidated as social media is full of people posting pictures of themselves in advanced poses that may look “cool” but that’s really not what yoga is about. These images tend to turn off the average person as they think they could never twist themselves into such positions. Personally I feel if you are breathing, then you can experience yoga and can enjoy the benefits of a practice. Wherever you are on a given day while doing yoga is exactly where you need to be. I have been blessed by many teachers who have shared this philosophy and I hope to share this with others too.

Because I truly respect the mindset of Jennifer Yarro who is so passionate about teaching yoga with the goal of a long and safe practice,I left my comfort zone of my home in the Berkshires for 3+ weeks to travel to Thailand and completed the 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2018 under the tutelage of Jennifer and her amazing staff. The journey and experience was more than I ever expected and as a result I hope to share my knowledge and love of yoga with as many people as I can.

I am a life-long resident of Adams, MA. My husband and I are proud parents of three sons and a precious granddaughter. I enjoy spending time with my family and dogs in the beautiful Berkshires. When the time comes where I can retire from my day job, my dream is to bring yoga to as many diverse groups of people that normally wouldn’t have the opportunity to be exposed to it.

I would be honored to guide you in a class. Come join me in the magical space that the North Adams Frog Lotus Studio is!
